Add an API
An API would be both interesting, as well as useful for people who want to get icons on the fly.

add a "cart" feature to download multiple icons at once.
Though downloading all icons at once may not be practical or feasible, it would be a significant help to be able to at least download multiple icons at once or see what you've viewed. Searching becomes a bit obtuse to find something specific, and a cart could also help people track what they're looking at.

This is an awesome idea. We don’t have a large enough dataset to implement at the moment. But after user submissions it will be a great way to supply people with more results per word.

Let users add tags!
Camera, Photo, Photography, Picture...
I would consolidate these if I could!

We plan to open this up for users to add more tags, and also to translate them into their language. Thanks!

Create a Voting system to track which icons should be created next
Provide a way for the community to engage with voting for icons to be contributed. Could be similar to Votebox a product of Dropbox which they use to track which features to work on next.

Hi Anne,
We use SVG’s because they allow the user to scale the image without it pixalating. We do plan to introduce other file options as well.
In the meantime, check out thepngproject.com. We’re not affiliated, but it’s a great tool for downloading png’s from our site.

Make it easy to download all icons BY license, ie. all public domains.
This will greatly increase the ease of use. I know you've rejected this suggestion before based on licensing problems - why not divide the download into groups based on license?

include the licence/copyright information inside svg file
Is it possible to add the copyright/licence information inside the svg ?
(even with adding <!-- --> tags ?)
Having the information inside the svg helps a lot to get pictograms used the right way.20 votesplanned ·

Thanks for the idea. I hope to implement this with SVG meta-data. This will likely not be a top priority but something we will need to think about while we craft the user upload functionality.

Automatic switching of language to local while person did not do it by himself is not good. If i'm in russia it doesnt mean that i love to use sites in russian.

Disable automatic language detection
I live in Ukraine and speak Russian, but I use MacOS with English interface, Chrome in English; the first language in my browser language is En-US, then English, and only then Russian. Why I always get The Noun Project in Russian? It drives me crazy. When I scroll the collection on the main page, the first screen has English names, but while I proceed scrolling, the second screen is already in Russian.
Please disable this feature or create subdomains (ru.thenounpro...), or something else, like thenounproject.com/ru/...

Allow users to link to a page containing all of their submissions.
Let contributors show off all their hard work to other people without having to link to each icon separately.

...to fix your website.
Major bug is occurring: "browser is not up-to-date" but I'm using Safari 5! Your site has _completely blocked itself_ due to this bug and I cannot use it in any way.

Allow contributors to see how many times their icon has been downloaded.
It would be nice to know if designs are being used and if so how ofter.

Get rid of the browser-scolding page.
This is 2012. Assume by default that visitors' browsers WILL work just fine, and show them your CONTENT. It's extremely off-putting to be told I should install Safari or something.
FYI I came here using OmniWeb on the Mac, which is WebKit-based. I assure you it's perfectly capable of rendering your site, you're just not letting it.

Recruit designers
Assign some creators so they can create icons that people request. I would love to participate in this way.
Btw might have an infographic soon for your blog, waiting for client approval.

tag British English
Words like "gas," "truck," and "pharmacy" are equivalent to "petrol," "lorry," and "chemist" in British English. Currently you can search for the former but not the latter.
